Sims 3 Agreement Announced by EA and Renault
EA has partnered up with Renault, the French car maker in order to bring a variety of their concept and electric cars into the game.
Steve Seabolt, VP of Global Brand Development for The Sims said,”The Sims 3 players have demonstrated consistent enthusiasm for bringing cool ‘real world’ brands into their virtual world. We’re excited to work with Renault on their electric vehicles and have them available for download for The Sims 3.”
The Twizy Z.E Concept Car has already been confirmed as an addition to the game, which will be able to be downloaded freely along with the EVP (Electronic Vehicle Pack). The EVP will ship with items such as solar panels and wind mills. This use of alternative energy will hopefully show the positive impact it has not only on the environment, but also do electric bills by decreasing weekly virtual household bills. So, by going green, players will be able to save some in-game green.
Renault is obviously hoping to capitalize on the Sims users’ appetite for real life brands, and transform the interest in their in-game cars to interest in their real life cars. We’ll see whether or not it actually works, but I doubt it due to the fact that it’s a car, not a little $20 item or even a $200 electronic device.
