I must admit I love spending a hour or two on any FPS games. It gives me the instant action that I crave from time to time. Some of them have no story some of them do, but no matter what they always feed your crave to just shoot your lasers, bullets, knives, fists, and just about anything your character can get his hands on. Tumeroks will be adding a new FPS game into the blog and hoping you the readers will choose the game to put on the blog. So I conjured up a small list of the what I think is the most popular FPS games today. Without further ado, the top 10 most popular multiplayer online FPS games for PC.
Hope you enjoy and as always leave comments and opinions please.
|10. Counter-Strike Source|
|Source is actually a beefed up version of Counter-Strike 1.6. It’s almost the same game as the original, but to any old gamer that started with 1.6 would know there is a difference in the game. Besides the better graphics than the original, there is just something different about it. I really can’t explain it but every time I play Source it just feels different than 1.6. There is also a bonus in this; the old maps in 1.6 are also in Source.
|9. Team Fortress 2|
TF2 is great for any gamers that just want to go in and kill something. Every class has 3 attacks and got a special which is great for anybody to just pick up and play. TF2 has this nice achievement system where you unlock stronger weapons by doing something out of the ordinary or usually not so ordinary. There are 9 classes to choose from and they are all fun to play with. (especially the spy)
|8. Battlefield 2142|
I felt the whole game was basically like Battlefield 2 except now you are in the future. Instead of bullets you are using lasers and instead of tanks you are using hover tanks. However, even though its similar the Titan mode is pretty cool. Its a scenario where 48 players fight against each other to capture these missle silos and shoot the enemies mother spaceship. When you finally taken down your enemies mother ship there is a great joy and satisfaction to it. (like waving your hands in the air)
7. Crysis Warhead
Warhead is a really pretty game. Graphically i think it is one of the best out there. The nano suite is awesome making you feel like you are superman. The game play ain’t too shabby either, but then the single-player campaign is too short. However, the multiplayer death matches are fun when you use your suit power to punch the lights out of your enemies.
6. Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2 is a pretty awesome game. With the whole ranking system in this game it just make it more addicting to play each time. Just like a RPG game you have to level to get to the next rank which is great for people who want another objective besides winning the game. There are also vehicles you can drive or even fly (the planes had to get a little use to them). It felt great when I was behind the wheel of a tank and squashing my own teammate because they like to run in front of it. (of course you get punish for this) I just gotta say don’t be a commander when you play.
5. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Quake Wars is a fun game when you just want to jump in and start destroying everything in your path. Some may like it and some probably don’t. I heard people say it sucks because winning the objective is too hard when you playing in a public server, but if you got a bunch of friends or a nice online team it’s pretty fun and easy to win. Just need a lot of teamwork which might appeal to a lot of fps gamers.
4. Half-Life: Counter-Strike 1.6
|This is the game that probably made people think to themselves that they should have a career in FPS games. It was addicting. (plain and simple) I couldn’t get off this game even when my hands were cramping up and my eyes were about to fall off. Counter-Strike needs no explanation if you are into FPS you probably played this already. I just have to say I still play scrimmage from now and then and you can still always find people to play with. Not too shabby for a 9 year old game.
|3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare|
Great game. Love the fact that you get rewarded if you kill more than one person at a time. Finally a game where they don’t just give you a congrats for having a killing streak. Also when you get higher in rank you get to customize your very own character. Very cool feature.
2. Left 4 Dead
|I just have a soft spot for killing zombies. The game is great when you have 3 other friends to play with. Everybody has to try surviving the oncoming hordes of zombies. Not so great when you have 1 dumb friend who likes to shoot you by mistake for the tenth time in a row. A great feature I liked in this game is that players can also be on the zombie side. Which is great because you can kill that friend who shot at you when you both were on the same side. The game gives a high adrenaline feeling with the fast pace never ending action. For example, there are times when you run low on ammo for your bigger guns and all you got is your infinite ammo useless handguns. There is not a moment where I can think of that I was not having fun.
1. Call of Duty: World at War
Following Call of Duty 4 , World at War actually tops it for me at least. The old features from COD4 is all here and there are a bunch of new features also. For example, there is a 4 people co-op play to run through the scenarios together and also a zombie type scenario where is similar to Left 4 Dead. Its like you getting 3 games in one which is always great.
