I was excited to roll my first Knight of the Blazing sun. I decided that I wanted to give him the midlength midnight black hair, a goate and an eye patch to make him look tough. Actually this is exactly how I made my witchhunter look, but I’m just a tad bit OCD…not completely nuts.
I hit the play button and jumped into the world. First thing I did was grab the starter quests and headed over to the scenario quest giver. I que’d up and jumped into battle. I ran a few Khaine’s embraces (which I guess was what more people were q’ing for last night) and enjoyed playing the lil fellar. I reached lvl 4 in under 20 minutes when I decided to hit the bed. I think I am going to stick with this character because I actually like tanking.
I have played a warrior for well over a year in Wow, and a lot of times I either tank or off tank. I guess the role is just something that I like because with other games I would either hang in the back as a damage dealer, high dps, or as a healer. Being either a tank or a healer gives you more stuff to focus on in battle, but I find the role more challenging. Don’t get me wrong, I have several dps classes like the Witch Hunter, and I also made a Squig herder, but I just enjoy being the first one to charge in and bash some heads. I also like being the guy to save someone’s arse if they get in over their heads with aggro.
One tip for anyone who is new and learning what they like for characters and groups: do not feel rushed into picking or choosing a class. You will have plenty of time to decide if a class works for you or not. Once you pick the right play style and class you enjoy, leveling will come easily, especially in Warhammer where you can level up by questing, public quests, dungeons and scenarios. I enjoy questing, but there is only so much of the MMO formula I can take. Go to x, gather or kill y, return to z to collect item a. So my fellow Waaagh freaks, take your time, play around a bit and learn your game your way.
More to come. My guy’s name is Messer if you want to look him up.
