Tekken: Blood Vengeance Japanese Voice Cast Revealed

Slowly but surely, more details of this 3d animated film is being made public. Tekken: Blood Vengeance is one of the collaborations between Namco-Bandai and Capcom, alongside the highly anticipated crossover series from both games: Street Fighter x Tekken and Tekken x Street Fighter. Big names behind both companies and in the animation industry will be coming together to make this animated masterpiece a reality.

We have the likes of Youichi Mouri directing the film. He’s the guy behind the animations for Tekken 5 and 6 in game and CG cutscenes. Dai Sato who did the screenplay for Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Good show, pick it up when you have the chance!) is also on board to write the script. Aesthetics will be taken cared of by the same people behind Capcom’s very own 3d animated ‘Resident Evil: Degeneration’, Digital Artists. Starstruck aren’t you? Well it doesn’t end there.

To seal the deal, they’re also dishing out the cream of the crop in the seiyuu industry, hiring well known and quite familiar names. Even if you’re not a seiyuu nut like me, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard these names at least ONCE in your lifetime in the anime/video game circuit. They’re that popular, I assure you. But don’t take their popularity for hype! They are very talented and well respected voice actors.

But in case you’re not familiar, I’ll list down their famous roles alongside their current so you can relate and remember who they are in the first place.

  • Ling Xiaoyu – Maaya Sakamoto (Lightning – FFXIII, Ciel Phantomhive – Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, Mari Illustrious Makinami – Evangelion)
  • Alisa Bosconovitch – Yuki Matsuoka (Retained from Tekken 6: BR, Tsuruya – The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
  • Kamiyashin (New chara?) – Mamoru Miyano (Light Yagami – Death Note, Riku – Kingdom Hearts, Setsuna F. Seiei- Gundam 00)
  • Kazuya Mishima – Masanori Shinohara (Retained, Can’t find any other role for him sadly. There’s even a rumor that ‘Masanori Shinohara’ is just a pen name of Toshiyuki Morikawa. Will confirm when I can)
  • Jin Kazama – Isshin Chiba (Retained, Koga Kuchiki – Bleach, Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior – Jedah)
  • Nina Williams – Atsuko Tanaka (Bayonetta – Bayonetta Japanese Ads, Motoko Kusanagi – Ghost in the Shell, Ultimecia – Dissidia: Final Fantasy)
  • Anna Williams – Akeno Watanabe (Witch Hunter Robin – Robin, Naruto – Tayuya, Street Fighter IV – Rose)

While hiring the best seiyuu in Japan, the team behind Blood Vengeance have also stated that they are aiming to retain as many of the original voice actors from the game as possible. However, since the film will be released in English and Japanese, with complimentary subtitles, it might not be so? I do hope they pick well for the English casting too. Or if they can still retain SOME of the original languages but say pepper with a few native words here and there then the distinct accent then why not right? Hopefully their accented whatevers won’t sound too forced or fake-sounding.

Should this film prove to be pretty successful, they will consider the possibility of a Tekken TV series. Whether or not it will be in 3D hasn’t been confirmed but it’s a possibility right?

The movie will be out this summer of 2011 so watch out for it!
