SteelSeries SteelPad QcK Limited Edition Mouse Pad Review

I got my shaky geek hands on the SteelPad QcK Limited Edition Kerrigan vs. Zeratul mouse pad, and after just one day of using it I’m not sure whether to cherish it forever or to use it until it’s worn down.

First off, I have to mention that I’m really stuck on how good the mouse pad looks. The pictures online really don’t do the artwork or the quality of the pad justice.

It’s a full 12.6 by 10.6 inches, meaning not only is it larger than what most people would consider a mouse pad, but it also gives plenty of space to show off the gorgeous Kerrigan vs Zeratul battle.

There’s more to this mouse pad than the artwork, though, and the SteelSeries QcK is known for their glide.

Touching the pad itself feels slick, but using a mouse on it shows that it has just the right amount of resistance, leaving the mouse entirely under your control. Not only that, but the padding is just thick enough to be comfortable during long gaming sessions.

I tested the QcK out on a few games of Starcraft since I was still a bit of a skeptic on whether it would affect my game or not. I rotated between this and my old mouse pad, and even no mouse pad to get a good feel for the difference.

There was a significant difference in the amount of effort I needed to put forth when using the QcK. It may sound corny, but it almost makes the mouse feel like an extension of your hand. I am using an optical, and just tapping on the side shows a mouse response on screen. Since precision is often key in RTS games, the QcK would be great for any avid RTS player — or even an FPS player.

I’ll be honest: the pad feels and looks oh-so-good to the point where I almost don’t want to use it .

Putting in a box and showing off the Starcraft 2 artwork once in a while seemed like a good idea, but I don’t think I can adjust back to my old mouse pad after really testing it out. I’m sure no one in their right mind could put the SteelPad QcK away.

Last but not least, the QcK limited edition gaming pad is available for only $14.99 which is a very feasible price considering the quality of the fabric and the awesome design. You can purchase the pad through the official SteelSeries website or at Amazon.
