Rock Band: The Beatles set to release in September

MTV, Harmonix and the Beatles’ Apple Corps. LTD. just announced that they will partner up to create a video game like “Rock Band” for the Beatles. It is slated for release in September 9, 2009 in North America, European Union, and Australasia.

It will ship simultaneously on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, but not on the PlayStation 2, unlike Harmonix’s last project, Rock Band 2. Apple Corps CEO Jeff Jones has this to say about the game:

“This game will take you on a journey from the Beatles first album Please Please Me until the last album at Abbey Road, It will span samples of the whole catalogue all the way through.”

The game was conceived  with input by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. However, there is no word whether would feature avatars of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. (would be cool if they add Yoko  Ono too)

In the US, the game will be available for $59.99 and you can use instruments from previous Rock Bands and other compatible hardware. There will also be a Beatles: Rock Band limited edition bundle which will be priced at $249.99 that comes with a all-new drum set, guitar, and microphone modeled after the Beatles’ own instruments. Also announced were Beatles: Rock Band-branded stand-alone guitars for $99.99 each.
