Ten of the Best Female Video Game Cosplayers Worldwide

Take note, I mean ten out of the best. Meaning there are some more out there. Just give me some more time to feature them! So watch out for the rest of my ‘ten of the best’ features guys!

I’ll be featuring both familiar and unfamiliar names in the world of cosplay in my ‘Ten of the Best’ features. Cosplayers who get picked aren’t picked because of their popularity but for their faithfulness to characters, skills and impact.

Since I wrote this article, these are my opinions, you may agree or not agree with them. At any rate, please do check these cosplayers out and give them a chance. I assure you they are all very good!

I have also provided link backs to their cosplay.com profiles in case anyone would like to see anymore of their other works.

Hey guys long time no see had a blast attending a local convention here. It’s kept me both busy and inspired enough to make some write ups on cosplay and video games: best of both worlds I tell you.

As a cosplayer, no don’t check me out, am not hot- it’s just a weekend hobby. I’ve had a fair share of people I’ve come across who just blow me away. They’ve got an impressive portfolio of costumes, props and wigs. AND THEY LOOK GOOD IN IT TOO. I know that cosplay isn’t a beauty contest by all means, since it’s mostly about being able to capture the character.

I’ve compiled a list of female cosplayers, my opinion btw, who are definitely the cream of the crop at videogame cosplay. This is no particular order of who’s better or not. I admire all these ladies all the same. They’re an inspiration to me and no doubt to other cosplayers worldwide. It was pretty hard to compile this because I personally believe there’s a whole lot of other cosplayers more than 10 at that! But I had to trim it down to 10. I’ll probably feature another 10 in the future!

Photos are taken from their public cosplay profiles. I decided to also use their cosplay aliases so it’s easier to recognize them.

1. Hikaru Jan

This talented cosplayer does everything from her hair to her shoes and the props she brings. I love how she carries herself in cosplays! There are even times she cosplays with her fiance. I love it when cosplayers do that. It’s kind of cute plus it’s a wealth of interaction… fanservice even? Hahaha. It was mentioned on her DA account that she’s working on a Bayonetta cosplay soon. I’m definitely looking forward to that.

2. Pixie Kitty

This lady is made of pure win. She picks her characters very well and projects them to utter perfection. I remember first seeing her Sorceress (Edea and Ultimecia) cosplays and had goosebumps after. Actually to this very day, it still does. I still get the goosebumps. Her transformation from cute to sexy or wicked is just so outstanding. Pixie Kitty also does happy candid shots of her characters at times which are well done. Often I dislike it when cosplayers do that because they lose the character but not her. She’s still very dignified and proper, IC even. Check out her site at PixieKitty.net too.

3. Adella

Popularly known for her various Aerith cosplays, Adella is more than just Aerith. She’s done other notable characters, executed quite well if I may add. Her cosplay photographs are so well-shot bringing out the best of her costumes, the matching landscape and mood which can pretty much make you believe, even for a second, all of which is real.

4. Yaya Han

A model, designer and cosplayer all rolled in one. This lady is definitely a force to reckon with. Her choice of cosplays range from characters from anime, comics and video games, as well as original designs. She has the talent for making the impossible likely and real cosplaywise. Yaya’s original designs are such a sight to behold: so much intricate details and work. You can definitely tell from all those, that it’s definitely something she enjoys doing. Her ingenuity and mastery of the craft of cosplay never ceases to amaze me and perhaps the rest of her fans out there.

5. Saya

She’s perhaps one of the most popular cosplayers in the world in Japan. Her cosplay portfolio is massive mostly anime and video game characters. She also does some rather skilful originals as well. Saya’s done both male and female roles, all done quite convincingly. In addition to that, her ensembles are top notch, as one can see on practically every photo of her online.

6. Pinky/Sellafine

The Indonesian cosplayer was the representative of her country for the AFA ’09 held at Japan. Looking at her past cosplays, it’s not surprising why she was selected in the first place. Often cosplaying with her just as talented friend Orochi, both tend to pick characters from MMORPG and video games. And you and I both know just how crazy detailed and almost impossible those costumes are… Thing is, they make the impossible POSSIBLE.

What makes her extra win is she cosplays KOEI video game characters which are quite hard to pull off.

7. Melanie

I first came across Melanie on an art club dedicated to works for the Musuo and Basara series. I was a fan of her art and lit way back. Upon discovering that she didn’t just draw and write the characters but also cosplayed them, my awe for her only went up notches higher. Her attention to detail in capturing mostly historical-inspired characters is so amazing. And she’s done it more than once, having gone as many Musou and Basara characters already as you can see on her cosplay portfolio.

Cosplayers usually dream of being able to go as these characters, hindered by the difficulty of such endeavours. But Melanie made it real, real good at that.

8. Omi Gibson

Another popular cosplayer hailing from the land of the rising sun, like Saya, is also on this top ten feature. She has cosplayed a lot of characters and each have been done perfectly. It’s amazing how she’s able to be in character for all on her portfolio may it be a sweet, rich girl type or a psychotic murderous character with a child’s mindset-she’s one of those rare instances of cosplayers who goof off but still remain dignified throughout.

And did I mention her portfolio is massive? She’s cosplayed so MANY characters! And never failed to stay in character. Amazing I tell you.

9. Yukilefay

This multiawarded Brazilian cosplayer has been featured here on GG way before for her Samus Aran cosplay. Looking at how good that was, comes as no surprise I’d be featuring here once again.
Speaking of her Samus cosplay, have you seen it? It’s a REAL work of art. Almost like the real thing!
Yukilefay is truly a talented cosplayer who can transform into the character she portrays almost without any effort. She has an eye for detail which allows her to execute her roles to the letter. Her choices of characters are both male and female, all done very well. Her skills in makeup and props, as well as characters all suit her or she’s managed to make them suit her.

I don’t think there will ever be a day she’ll have a ‘bad’ cosplay.

10. KurzesHaar

Last but not the least would be this really talented cosplayer. I first learned of her when I was helping out a group of cosplayers looking for inspiration since they were looking towards forming a Dynasty Warriors 6 group. What’s a better way to inspire oneself but to look at other’s already done work right? The group never came to be but I managed to find a new cosplayer to idolize. Her dedication to meticulous details and getting it right is just inspiring in itself. I just love how she crafts everything she wears to perfection. Her Zhen Ji cosplay was the first cosplay of her I’ve ever seen and I still love it to this very day.

Sadly I’ve ran out of slots but felt I should still mention her anyway…

SPECIAL MENTION

Nefeline

This Austria-based cosplayer is perhaps the best Lady/Mary cosplayer I’ve ever seen. She’s also done Kamikirimusi, my favourite SC4 character and even Yoko Littner, a fan favourite of a lot of fanboys out there. She hasn’t cosplayed a lot but I really like what she’s doing so far. I look forward to seeing more of her works in the future.

CLOSING

Cosplay is difficult, but it’s fun—the challenges to be faced are definitely worth it: the props, the costumes, wigs, perverts even? Hahaha. But yeah. All in all, anything and everything can be done: with style, finesse and girl power.

I suppose these ladies are proof enough of that aren’t they?
