Diablo 3 Monk Class Skill Details & 12 Min Demo Gameplay Video

As we’ve said earlier today, more footage of the new Diablo 3 class in action. The Monk goes all out in the whole demo from BlizzCon, 12 minutes of raw action and gameplay.

The Monk is a combination of the Assassin and the Druid and is definitely one class you’ll want to play. It also has a hint of the World of Warcraft Rogue. The idea of this class is to be fast, destructive but also paper thin. The Monk will be defined by its combo moves, holy magic, speed, and complementary skills. The Monk will be a difficult to learn but can be very rewarding in the long run.

Designer Wyatt Cheng introduced several of the Monk’s lightning-quick skills.

Way of the Hundred Fists: “The player is actually hitting the same mouse button three times in a row.. but every time you use the skill, a different move [occurs].” Cheng compared the combo move to something you’d find in a console brawler.

Crippling Wave: “Slows your enemies on the first hit, applies a damage debuff on the second hit, and then refreshes the duration of both on the third hit, as well as doing a little extra damage.”

Exploding Palm: The attack does damage and applies a moderate bleed. When the target dies, it explodes, dealing damage to surrounding enemies that is proportional to the amount that it bled.

Blizzard then detailed the Seven Sided Strike: “It’s a lot like chain lightning from Diablo 2, with one difference: you are the lightning.” On screen, the monk strikes several enemies, bouncing from one to the other with yellow Street Fighter-esque effects.

The only disappointment is that Diablo 3 won’t be released in 2010. Alright, enough whining, feast your eyes on the video after the jump.
