Cut Your Way Through Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Metal Gear has been around for a long time and it’s the game that has invented stealth genre as we know it today. After many sequels and great games we are expecting a new installment of this great game. Unlike in previous games, you’re not leading Snake this time, instead you’re playing as Raiden. As you might remember we have seen Raiden before in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty and in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots. In fact Raiden was a playable character in Metal Gear Solid 2, but now it is time that Raiden gets his own game.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising takes place between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 and it should explain what happened to Raiden in this period. Raiden is different than in Metal Gear Solid 2 and it actually looks like a ninja cyborg. Of course trailer has been released and I can just say that this Metal Gear looks a lot different than previous games. Raiden is a skillful ninja and he will cut down his opponents like bamboo sticks. It looks more action based than before with a lot more focus on the cutting part.

According to the developers stealth elements have been changed but this is still a stealth game so if you prefer you can play it in the good old stealth mode, or you can simply grab your swords and cut everyone that stands in your way. Besides enemies you can cut down all sorts of objects such as cars and pillars. And there is the slow motion mode that allows you precise cutting. By performing precise cuts you can get special rewards such as spinal cords from cyborgs that Raiden uses to restore health. Different cuts give you different power ups so it’s up to you to find them.

Although it looks a lot different and more action based than previous games this is still a good old Metal Gear stealth game with more actions elements and cutting. Now it’s not all about stealth and you have the option to become hunter if needed. Anyway, Metal Gear Solid: Rising looks amazing so we can’t wait for the official release date.
