Call of Duty 4 Reaches 15 Million on Consoles

There seems to be no end in sight for the success of Call of Duty 4. The game, which has sold “god knows how many copies” to date, just won 3 BAFTA awards and developer Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowlinghas revealed that there have been over 15 million unique players online.

11 Million via Xbox live and 4 million through PSN. I wonder how many more over PC? Presumably, even 2 million is definitely possible. According to Microsoft, Xbox Live has 17 million subscribers, which means two third of Xbox Live subscribers have played COD4. On another note, these figures are only for COD4, does not include the older series.

Blizzard has boasted about World of Warcraft with 11 million subscribers, but unlike WoW, these are figures are currently active. If you really think about it, there are even more players with the game that aren’t subscribed to play online.

Infinity Ward is currently working on a Modern Warfare sequel, due for release at the end of this year. I can’t possibly imagine the sales that will come out of the release.
