Blizzard’s Battlenet 2.0 is Upon Us

Blizzard have launched their upgraded Battle.net platform and is being nicknamed “Battle.net 2.0” by Blizzard fans.

Today, the World of Warcraft sites as well as Battle.net went down for a brief moment and when it came back up, WoW site was redirecting to Battle.net site. The Battle.net site has a new design and also new features on it.

Players now can upgrade their WoW account to a Battle.net account, and Blizzard will also merge any Blizzard accounts you have in the past posted. This isn’t a surprise considering Wrath of the Lich King Licensed Agreement already mentioned like this would happen. Rumors have it that with the beta page being re-done could also mean Starcraft II Beta sign ups might be available soon according to Starcraft Wire.

The idea with all these new features on Battle.net is so players can register all their games in one location, and use one account for all future things from Blizzard. Much of this service was previously available at the Blizzard Account, but did not include World of WarCraft. This is also the first step of merging all of Blizzard games, and we will most likely see the WoW forums move over to Battle.net as well. Blizzard wants all their game fans to come together under a single roof and share one single community.

It will be similar to Steam accounts where all players can access their games in one account.
