Blizzard is very serious about Diablo 3 for consoles

A year ago, Blizzard posted a recent job listing looking for developers for a console related project for Diablo 3, but reports suggests that the concept is “imminent” and Blizzard is very serious about it.

At Blizzards Gamescom press conference, Diablo 3 lead designer Josh Mosqueira says the developer is “very, very serious” about bringing the “experience” to platforms beyond the PC and Mac.

“Today, we’re trying to build the best console team at Blizzard,” Mosqueira said during a Q&A session. “We’re looking for programmers, designers and artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console.”

While it has yet to be made official, Mosqueira promised “All I can say is it’s going to be awesome. Stay tuned.”

Knowing Blizzard’s reputation for long over-due products, I wouldn’t expect Diablo 3 to be hitting consoles anytime soon but we’re likely to see it a year or two.
